We have, indeed, revealed this message in the Night of Power. And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the angels and the spirit by Allah’s permission, on every errand: Peace! This until the rise of Morn.
The Noble Qur’an 97:5
As Ramadan nears its end, Laylatul Qadr presents a unique opportunity for immense rewards and blessings. This sacred night is a time for deep reflection, devotion, and generosity. Below, we explore the significance of this blessed night and how you can make the most of it.
What is Laylatul Qadr?
Laylatul Qadr, or The Night of Power, is described in the Qur’an as ‘better than a thousand months’ (Al-Qadr 97:3). It is the night when the first verses of the Holy Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as guidance for all humanity.
Many Muslims dedicate the final ten nights of Ramadan to worship, hoping to attain the blessings of Laylatul Qadr, which falls within this period. By uniting in prayer and devotion, we embrace the spirit of this Holy month and its unparalleled rewards.
‘Ramadan is the month in which was sent down the Qur’an, as a guide to mankind, also clear signs for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong)’. (Qur’an 2:185)
The Rewards of Laylatul Qadr
Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
‘Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. And whoever spends the night of Laylatul Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven’. (Sunan an-Nasa’i)
Every act of worship performed on this night, from reciting the Holy Qur’an to remembering Allah (SWT), holds more value than a thousand months of the same actions.
When is Laylatul Qadr?
Laylatul Qadr is believed to fall within the last ten nights of Ramadan, with many scholars suggesting it occurs on the 27th night. In Ramadan 2025, this is expected to be on or around Thursday, 27th March, subject to moon sighting.
Signs of Laylatul Qadr
Islamic scholars have highlighted several signs that may indicate this blessed night:
